Abstract: Treatment of unhindered secondary alcohols with phenoxythiocarbonyl chloride (phenyl chlorothionocarbonate) in pyridine/dichloromethane, or in acetonitrile with 4- dimethylaminopyridine catalysis for hindered alcohols, gave clean conversion to their O- phenoxythiocarbonyl derivatives.
