Use of Fosinopril sodiumFosinopril Sodium is the ester prodrug of an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor, used for the treatment of hypertension and some types of chronic heart failure.Target: ACEFosinopril is a phosphinic acid-containing ester prodrug that belongs to the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor class of medications. It is rapidly hydrolyzed to fosinoprilat, its principle active metabolite. Fosinoprilat inhibits ACE, the enzyme responsible for the conversion of angiotensin I (ATI) to angiotensin II (ATII). ATII regulates blood pressure and is a key component of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS). Fosinopril may be used to treat mild to moderate hypertension, as an adjunct in the treatment of congestive heart failure, and to slow the rate of progression of renal disease in hypertensive individuals with diabetes mellitus and microalbuminuria or overt nephropathy [1-3]. |

Clopidogrel bioactivation and risk of bleeding in patients cotreated with angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors after myocardial infarction: a proof-of-concept study.
Clin. Pharmacol. Ther. 96(6) , 713-22, (2014) Clopidogrel is an oral antiplatelet prodrug, the majority of which is hydrolyzed to an inactive metabolite by hepatic carboxylesterase 1 (CES1). Most angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs) a... |

Meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials on effect of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors on cancer risk.
Am. J. Cardiol. 108(2) , 294-301, (2011) The renin-angiotensin system is an important mediator of tumor progression and metastasis. A recent meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials reported an increased risk of cancer with angiotensin ... |
