Abstract

As a result of extensive investigations2 on the chemical properties of organometallic compounds it has become apparent that cleavage by hydrogen chloride is characteristic of carbon-metal bonds. Since the reaction becomes more difficult as the afiity of the metal for an electron pair increases, the studies have involved, for the most part, derivatives of such metals as mercury, tin and lead.
