Abstract

Aqueous Ammonium Hydroxide.-The aluminum amalgam was prepared by adding small pieces of aluminum foil to a dilute solution of mercuric chloride. A vigorous reaction took place and after standing a few minutes, the amalgam was poured upon a Buchner funnel and well washed with water and then with alcohol.
