Abstract

The kinetic resolution of racemic substrates by enzyme catalysis, especially efficient processes for lipase-catalyzed hydrolysis of esters and acylation of secondary alcohols, has become a standard reaction in organic synthesis. 1 During the course of our studies, we required the use of several enantiomerically pure substituted mandelic acids.
