Abstract

Now that tertiary butyl and tertiary amyl alcohols are available, it becomes possible to prepare trimethylacetaldehyde and dimethylethyl- acetaldehyde in quantities suitable for synthetic work. These aldehydes promised to be of interest in connection with the study of highly-branched compounds which is being carried on in the Harvard Laboratories.
