用途一：特种有机合成。阿米卡星、盘尼西林、头孢霉素、氟尿嘧啶及各种青霉素衍生物等合成过程中的甲硅烷基化。硅藻土、白炭黑、钛等粉末的表面处理。半导体工业中光致刻蚀剂的粘结助剂。
用途二：为阿米卡星药用中间体，是羟基及氨基保护剂
用途三：用于生产橡胶、药物。该品是消减气相色谱载体表面吸附活的减尾剂。
用途四：碱性硅烷化保护剂，无机填料处理剂

六甲基二硅氮烷制备

1.将109g（1.0mol）三甲基氯硅烷溶于500ml无水乙醚，通入氨气，立即出现白色沉淀。加热至回流，慢慢通氨维持6h，使氯化铵沉降、过滤，取乙醚溶液先蒸出乙醚，再蒸出六甲基二硅氨烷，得52.5g，收率65%。

2.用无水乙醚溶解三甲基氯硅烷，边搅拌边通入氨气，有白色沉淀出现，温度略有升高。通气的同时，加热反应液至回流，并维持6h，过程中不断补充乙醚：

待氯化铵沉降完全后，过滤，所得氯化铵沉淀用乙醚洗涤数次，每次洗液并入滤液，并用无水硫酸钠干燥，小心地蒸去乙醚，常压蒸馏收集124～126℃馏分，得成品六甲基二硅胺烷。
