邻二氯苯是一种重要的有机化工原料,在农药上既是杀虫剂三氯杀虫酯的原料,用于合成其中间体1-(3,4-二氯苯基)-2,2,2-三氯乙醇,也可合成另一个重要的农药中间体邻苯二胺,此外,它还作为溶剂用于染料、医药、树脂、橡胶等作业,或作为除锈剂、脱脂剂等

其制备方法有以下几种。
以氯苯为原料进一步氯化,得到对二氯苯、邻二氯苯还有间二氯苯。一般分离的方法采用混合二氯苯进行连续蒸馏,塔顶馏出对位和间位二氯苯,冷冻结晶析出对二氯苯,母液再进行精馏而得到间二氯苯,塔釜是粗邻二氯苯,再在闪蒸塔进行闪蒸馏出邻二氯苯。目前混合二氯苯采用吸附分离的方法,采用分子筛为吸附剂,以气相混合二氯苯进入吸附塔,可选择性吸附对二氯苯,吸余液为间位和邻位二氯苯,经精馏分别得到间二氯苯和邻二氯苯。吸附温度180~200℃,吸附压力为常压。
1.间苯二胺重氮法:间苯二胺在亚硝酸钠和硫酸存在下进行重氮化,重氮化温度在0~5℃,重氮液在氯化亚铜存在下水解生成间二氯苯。
2.间氯苯胺法:采用间氯苯胺为原料,在亚硝酸钠和盐酸存在下进行重氮化,重氮液在氯化亚铜存在下水解生成间二氯苯。
以上几种制备方法中,最适用于工业化并成本较低的方法是混二氯苯的吸附分离法。国内已有生产装置进行生产。
