由棕榈酸与氯化亚砜反应而得。将棕榈酸、氯化亚砜及苯加入反应锅内，加热。反应温度最后达到80-85℃，保温2h。然后在90℃（21.3kPa）回收氯化亚砜及苯，得十六酰氯。原料消耗定额：棕榈酸880kg/t、氯化亚砜580kg/t、苯200kg/t。
