Abstract A series of twenty five α-chloro-and α-bromoimidoyl cyanides was prepared by halogenation of α-cyanoenamines with N-halogensuccinimide in carbon tetrachloride. α- Halogenated imidoyl cyanides are a new class of easily accessible trifunctional compounds, from which the reactivity towards various nucleophiles was investigated.
