Abstract Different homoleptic and heteroleptic lithium–zinc combinations were prepared, and structural elements obtained on the basis of NMR spectroscopic experiments and DFT calculations. In light of their ability to metalate anisole, pathways were proposed to justify the synergy observed for some mixtures.
