Abstract A tandem Sc (OTf) 3-mediated Meinwald epoxide rearrangement-Fischer indole synthesis is reported. Optimisation and scope and limitation studies are described. In addition, preliminary investigations to develop a telescoped epoxidation-Meinwald rearrangement-Fischer indole sequence are outlined.
