A potent, selective MMP-2 inhibitor with Ki of 230 nM; does not inhibit the closely related MMP-9 or MMP-14, and other MMPs (Ki>50 uM); can cross the blood-spinal cord barrier, achieving therapeutic concentrations in the injured spinal cord, shows no change in long-term neurological outcomes in mice.
