Biological Activity

[Description]:

(Nle4)-α-MSH is a synthetic analogue of α-MSH (HY-P0252), a melanocyte-stimulating hormone. (Nle4)-α-MSH reversibly darkens frog skins and also exhibits prolonged activity after heat-alkali treatment[1].

[Target]

tyrosinase; melanoma adenylate cyclase[1]

[In Vitro]

(Nle4)-α-MSH shows a better bioactivity than α-MSH in frog skin bioassay, activation of mouse melanoma adenylate cyclase, and stimulation of mouse melanoma cell tyrosinase activity[1]. (Nle4)-α-MSH (0.1 nM; 0.5, 4, 8 h) stimulates tyrosinase activity in melanoma cells (NCTC 3960)[1]. (Nle4)-α-MSH (0.1 nM; 1-4 h) increases biological activity of melanotropins, indicating darkening response of frog skins[1]. (Nle4)-α-MSH (0.1 μg) also activates mouse melanoma adenylate cyclase[1].
