Biological Activity

[Description]:

[Glp5] Substance P (5-11) is an octapeptide. [Glp5] Substance P (5-11) is one of the main substance P fragments in rat central nervous system (CNS). [Glp5] Substance P (5-11) locally modulates dopamine release in rat striatum[1].

[In Vitro]

[Glp5] Substance P (5-11) (0.12 nM-10 μM; rat striatum) modifies spontaneous dopamine outflow with a significant increase in dopamine outflow at 0.1 nM and a smaller effect at 1 nM, whereas concentrations lower than 0.1 nM or higher than 1 nM failed to modify dopamine release. [Glp5] Substance P (5-11) and K+ has additive effect, promoting the release of dopamine[1].

Biological activity of C-terminal partial sequences of substance P.

J. Med. Chem. 19 , 854, (1976)

Substance P (Arg-Pro-Lys-Pro-Gln-Gln-Phe-Phe-Gly-Leu-Met-NH2) and the C-terminal partial sequences down to the tripeptide were synthesized by a solid-phase method. These peptides were assayed for vaso...
