Abstract
Results Synthesis. The synthesis, outlined in Scheme I, proceeded by way of bicyclo [4.2. 0] oct-l (6)-ene (a), which was prepared following literature procedures. 16z3 In basic methanol the diiodide from 6 gives 1, 2-dimethylenecyclohexane (7); 18J9 photoisomerization of the diene provides a nearly quantitative yield of bicyclo [4.2. 0] oct-l (6)-ene (8). z0-z3
