Abstract
Phenyl tetrafluoroethyl sulfide has been prepared by base-catalyzed addition of thiophenol to tetrafluoroethylene. a However, this reaction has not been extended to substituted thiophenols, and the properties of the tetrafluoroethylthio group have not been studied. The aryl trifluoromethyl sulfides have been oxidized to the corresponding sulfones by chromic anhydride in sulfuric acid12, 4 but otherwise the trifluoromethylthio group appears to be ...
