Abstract
3, 4-Disubstituted 1, 2, 3, 5-oxathiadiazole 2-oxides 2 are prepared in good yields by cyclization of N-alkyl-and N-arylamidoximes 1 with thionyl chloride in the presence of triethylamine. The reaction provides a convenient route to heterocycles 2 as an alternative to the cycloaddition of N-sulfinylamines to nitrile oxides. 4-Aryl substituted heterocycles 2 decompose under mild thermal conditions to sulfur dioxide and carbodiimides 3.
