Abstract
The synthesis of methylenecyclopropane has been attempted with little success by several workers. Merezhkovskii2 reported that the treatment of 1, 2, 3-tribromo-(2-bromomethyl)- propane with zinc in 80% alcohol gave a gaseous mixture, which on oxidation with 1% potassium permanganate produced products to be expected from isobutene, as well as some oxalic acid.
