Abstract
4 2 attempts to solve this long disputed problem have involved the use of spectroscopic reaction kinetic techniques coupled with the use of deuterated substrates or deazaflavin ana1ogues. lM Although the results of these experiments have been interpreted to support the hydride-transfer mechanism (eq I), it is not yet certain whether substitution of deazaflavin for flavin induces a change in the enzyme mechanism.
