Abstract

It has been shown that N-phenylpiperazine2 may be prepared readily by heating a mixture of aniline and diethanolamine hydrochlorides. We have found that this method cannot be extended conveniently to the preparation of C-substituted piperazines from arylamines and diisopropanol- amine.
