Abstract Acetylene and 1-alkynes react with carbon monoxide under basic conditions (amines) with nickel (II) complexes. L 2 NiBr 2 (L= Et 2 NH,(C 6 H 5) 3 P), to give acetylencarboxamides with maintenance of the triple bond. Intermediates are isolated, characterised and a mechanism is proposed.
