Abstract

Pioneering work by Shilov, by Garnett, and by Webster in the late 1960's and early 1970's led to the discovery that a number of soluble transition metal chlorides (notably Pt" and IF ) in acidic media are efficient catalysts for HD exchange between D20 and saturated hydrocarbons (including methane).
