Abstract

Abstract: The binding of the substrates N-acetyl-L-tyrosine p-chloroanilide and N-formyl-L- phenylalanine formylhydrazide to chymotrypsin is accompanied by a significant perturbation of the pK of a group on the enzyme. This perturbation does not occur with the closely related nonsubstrate derivatives N-formyl-D-phenylalanine formylhydrazide, N-formyl-N-methyl-L- phenylalanine formylhydrazide, N-acetyl-D-tyrosine p-chloroanilide, and N-acetyl-N- ...
