Abstract

A silver-based cationic metal− organic framework was synthesized by hydrothermal, reflux, or room temperature methods. Ethanedisulfonate anions are electrostatically bound to the cationic layers. Coordinatively unsaturated Ag (I) metal sites give rise to efficient heterogeneous Lewis acidity. The material is reusable, with over 95% yield in ketal formation over three runs.
