Abstract

The alkylation of benzene with methyl-, dimethyl-and ethylcyclopropanes was studied. Methylcyclopropane reacted with benzene in the presence of hydrogen fluoride to give pure s-butylbenzene. Ethylcyclopropane reacted with benzene in the presence of hydrogen fluoride, sulfuric acid and aluminum chloride.
