Abstract

Recombinant (+)-δ-cadinene synthase (DCS) from Gossypium arboreum catalyzes the metal- dependent cyclization of (E, E)-farnesyl diphosphate (FDP) to the cadinane sesquiterpene δ- cadinene, the parent hydrocarbon of cotton phytoalexins such as gossypol.
