Abstract

Three distinct classes of substitutional reactivity can be discerned in the halogenation of a series of methyl-substituted methoxybenzenes (ArH) with iodine monochloride (ICl), namely, exclusive iodination, exclusive chlorination, and mixed iodinatiodchlorination.
