Abstract

Alcohols, hydroquinones, tetrahydropyranyl ethers, trimethylsilyl ethers, oximes, semicarbazones, and phenylhydrazones were efficiently converted to the corresponding carbonyl compounds using α-naphthyltriphenylphosphonium peroxodisulfate (NTPPPODS) in acetonitrile at reflux conditions. This reagent could be regenerated and reused, which represents significant advantages over the known reagents.
