Abstract

Each of the fluorine ligands of XeFz may be substituted by highly electronegative species. Interaction of XeF2 with the appropriate molar quantity of anhydrous acid yields FXeOSOzF (colorless, mp 36.6'), Xe (OS0nF) z (pale yellow, mp 43-45O), FXeOC103 (colorless, mp 16.5'), Xe (0ClOa) z (a yellow solid, which decomposes below OO), and FXeOSO2CF3 and FXeOS02-CH3 (both of which are colorless solids).
