1. 70g PrCl3、185g Ca在惰性气氛下彻底混合摇匀装入钽坩埚或用机动压力机将其压成圆柱体放入钽坩埚中,坩埚配有打孔的钽盖子以便通气,置于密闭MgO坩埚(d=0.0508m,h=0.1778m)中。然后放入石英管(d=0.05715m)中,管的一端熔封,另一端打磨后嵌入55/50锥形接头中。用石蜡将石英管密封在真空体系中。充入Ar(先通过热的金属铀纯化)到P=101.325kPa,用6kW感应炉加热到550~600℃,使反应发生(钽坩埚温度突然上升为据)。5min后达到1000℃,维持13min使产生的稀土金属完全结块。冷却到室温,用水浸泡钽坩埚以除掉CaCl2、Ca,稀土金属融体保留在底部(1%~3%Ca)。

2. 在100mL镍坩埚中电解熔融的25gKOH+10gNaOH+2.5gH2O+4gPr2O3+2gKClO3的混合物。镍坩埚置于300瓦的电炉中,用一支装金属箍头的玻璃温度计测量温度,粗的铂丝作为阳极稍稍浸入熔融物的液面下,坩埚作为阴极,电压4V。温度控制在320~335℃直至得到清澈的熔化物,而后形成一层发亮的黑色壳状物质,轻轻取出。350℃、380℃下进行第二次和第三次电解,得到产物。
