在革兰氏阴性菌中,水解四元 β-内酰胺环的酰胺键是 β-内酰胺酶主要的耐药机制,多种酶散布在机会致病菌：肠杆菌科 (如大肠杆菌) 和非发酵生物 (如铜绿假单胞菌) 的移动遗传元件上。β-内酰胺酶分为四类：活性位点丝氨酸 β-内酰胺酶(A、C和 D类) 和锌依赖性或金属 β-内酰胺酶(MBL；B类)[1]。
