β-羟乙基甲基硫醚溶于干燥的氯仿，滴加氯化亚砜与氯仿配成的溶液。加料时不断搅拌，并加热，加料后再继续反应4h。然后蒸除回收氯仿，减压蒸馏，收集55-56℃（4.0kPa）馏分，得2-氯乙基甲基硫醚。产率75-85%。
