2-乙基已醇在增塑剂邻域习惯称为辛醇,它是重要的化工原料。国外辛醇除用于生产增塑剂外,还生产丙烯酸辛酯或用作表面活性剂等,主要可用来生产:苯二甲酸二辛酯(DOP)、乙二酸二辛酯(DOA)、偏苯三酸三辛酯(TOTM)、其他增塑剂、丙烯酸辛酯、表面活性剂类、润骨油添加剂、采矿用、柴油机燃料添加剂、溶剂和配药、防锈剂酯、其他化学品。辛醇本身是有用的溶剂、消沫剂、分散剂、润滑剂,其系列产品主要是邻苯二甲酸二辛酯等增塑剂和丙烯酸辛酯等。以辛醇为原料生产的邻苯二甲酸二辛酯是PVC的主要增塑剂,用于PVC的消耗量约占其总消费量的95%。

2-乙基己醇制备

1. 羰基合成法 以丙烯和合成气为原料,经羰基合成反应生成丁醛,两分子丁醛经缩合脱水得2-乙基(-2-)己烯醛,再经加氢得2-乙基(-1-)己醇。

2. 乙醛缩合法 以乙醛缩合成丁醇醛,脱水得巴豆醛,加氢得正丁醛,然后将两分子正丁醛缩合脱水得2-乙基(-2-)己烯醛,再加氢得2-乙基(-1-)己醇。 3. 还可以采用铑催化剂催化庚烯羰化一步制辛醇,铑系催化剂Rh2AcO4和[RH(NH3)5Cl]Cl2均可用作反应的催化剂前体(使用时要在催化剂中加入磷,如三丁基膦使催化剂活化,从而使主要产物为正构醇,而不是醛)。 4. 也使用椰子油为原料,在铜-铬催化剂的存在下高压虽氢得到。 5. 乙醛缩合法是先由两分子乙醇缩合生成丁醇醛;然后脱水生成丁烯醛(巴豆醛),丁烯醛经加氢得正丁醛;正丁醛再加氢得正丁醇;如经缩合脱水则生成2-乙基己烯醛,进一步加氢即得到最终产品2-乙基己醇。或者采用高压羰基合成法,以丙烯、一氧化碳和氢为原料,以四羰基氢钴为催化剂进行反应合成正丁醛和异丁醛。正丁醛和异丁醛以铜或镍为催化剂进行加氢反应。正丁醛以气相或固相加氢生成正丁醇;再经初馏后,于两塔蒸馏系统内提纯得到正丁醇。以氢氧化钠为催化剂使正丁醇进行缩合、脱水制得2-乙基己烯醛。2-乙基己烯醛加氢在镍催化剂存在下,在一定温度和压力下加氢制得异2-乙基己醇。
