Alkyl-and alkenyldibromoborane-dimethyl sulfide complexes, readily obtained by the hydroboration of alkenes and alkynes with dibromoborane-dimethyl sulfide (HBBr2. SMez), react with water, giving the corresponding boronic acids, and with alcohols and glycols to give the corresponding esters.
