Abstract: In the reaction of magnesium with bromocyclopropane in diethyl ether at reflux, intermediate cyclopropyl radicals attack the solvent, giving cyclopropane (20-30 mol/100 mol of bromocyclopropane consumed) and solvent-derived products.
