Abstract Boron tribromide is presented as a highly reactive reagent that simultaneously allows the demethylation and fully diastereoselective cyclization of different precursor molecules, obtained by an aldol-type reaction, to a series of hydroxylated aryldihydrobenzofuran systems in racemic form.
