Abstract New alkaloid cardenolides have been synthesized and their biological activity has been studied. It has been established that ajmalinocardenolides possess cardiotonic and antiarrhythmic activity with a low or moderate toxicity, while cardenolides derivatives of hyoscyamine and of scopolamine have proved to be highly toxic compounds.
