Abstract Tri-t-butylsilylamine has been synthesized in excellent yield from the hydrogenation of tri-t-butylsilylazide. The pK b values of the amine and its mono-and dimethyl derivatives have been quantitatively measured in 40% H 2 O/60% THF solution. Stable silylammonium salts,[(CH 3) 3 C] 3 SiN+ H 3 X−(X= Cl, Br, BF 4) have been isolated and characterized.
