Abstract The authors describe a new synthetic procedure for the preparation of aminocyanoesters, by which they have obtained ethyl-α-amino-γ-cyanobutyrate (m. 105 C) and ethyl-α-amino-δ-cyanovalerate (m. 132 C). The value of the aminocyanoesters as intermediates in the synthesis of natural or synthetic aminoacids has been demonstrated.
