(Method C, Compound 18). As previously described in method B, 6.5 g (0.05 mol) of p- hydroxyphenylacetonitrile, 2.5 mL of absolute ethanol, and 70 mL of anhydrous chloroform were mixed and treated with dry hydrogen chloride.
