The cleavage of isobutyrylcobalt tetracarbonyl with triethylsilane gives (triethylsily1) cobalt tetracarbonyl, isobutyraldehyde, dicobalt octacarbonyl, and the corresponding unsaturated and saturated silyl ethers.
