Abstract: The reactions of 1 1 kinds of 1, 2, 4-trioxolanes (ozonides) with SbCIS or CIS03H in methylene chloride have been investigated. Depending on the substituents, the reaction paths seem to vary. We have proposed the mechanism that heterolytic fission of the C-0 bond of the peroxide bridge affords 3, 6-dialkyl-1, 2, 4, 5-tetroxane and/or 1, 4-dialkyl-2, 3, 5, 6, 1 I-pentaoxabicyclo [5.3.
