Abstract Diazomethane transforms N-(phenylthio-carbonyl)-amino acid esters or amides into the corresponding N-carbonyl derivatives, similarly it converts N-(phenylthio-carbonyl)-butyl- 1-amine into butyl-isocyanate. Solvents with a high dielectric constant (eg nitromethane, ethanol) favour this transformation.
