Applicability of the following two-step reaction sequence was examined for conversion of organolithium and-magnesium compounds into lithium acetylides having two more carbon atoms: RLi or RMgBr+ CF2= CClz-RCF= CClZ, RCF= CC12+ n-C4HgLi-RCECLi.
