Summary The preparation and nitration of 2-imidazoli- done, ethylenebisurethan, ethylenebisacetamide and cyclic eihyleneoxamide to dinitro derivatives and the hydrolysis of the dinitro derivatives to the high explosive ethylenedinitramine (EDNA) are described. Ethylenebisurea, which was prepared from ethylenediamine and urea, is nitrated at the terminal amino groups.
