1. Summary The reaction of ten bis-(halogenomethyl)-benzenes with hexamethylenetetramine in chloroform solutions is described. Hydrolysis of the salts of m- and p-bis-(chloromethy1)-benzenes according to Sommelet's procedure gave satisfactory yields of m-and pdialdehydes except in the cases where the two nuclear carbons ortho to each chloromethyl group were substituted.
