The synthesis of mixed phosphine–olefin ligands is of significant interest. 4–7 Such ligands have been used by Hayashi et al. (CScheme 1) in the catalysis of 1,4-addition reactions 6 and by Grützmacher in hydrogenation reactions. 7 However, the synthesis of such ligands is multistep and can be non-trivial.
