6, 7, 8, 9-Tetrahydro-5H-benzocyclohepten-5-one (I) was used for the preparation, mostly t'ia 5-amino-6, 7, 8, 9-tetrahydro-5H-benzocycloheptene (XII), of a number of amines and amides (XIII-XXVI).
