Abstract A novel family of bis (terpyridinyl) ligands was designed and constructed by facile Pd-catalyzed coupling reactions. Subsequent terpyridine–transition-metal complexation facilitated self-assembly resulting in a hexagonal, trimeric series of metallomacrocycles.
